In fall 2016, PHO invited hospitals to complete a survey as part of the Ontario Antimicrobial Stewardship Program (ASP) Landscape Initiative. This voluntary initiative is aimed at providing an understanding of how the landscape of antimicrobial stewardship in Ontario hospitals has evolved since it became an Accreditation Canada Required Organizational Practice in 2013 and opportunities for further advancing antimicrobial stewardship across the province. Survey respondents were asked questions about their organization’s ASP including structural elements of their program and strategic elements (“strategies”) that have been implemented. In this presentation we will share the key results of the survey, including a focus on regional results.
Valerie Leung is the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program Lead at Public Health Ontario. She has experience in developing and evaluating an antimicrobial stewardship program at a community teaching hospital and is interested in advancing antimicrobial stewardship from a systems perspective.
Bradley Langford is a Pharmacist Consultant in the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program at Public Health Ontario. He has experience building a successful antimicrobial stewardship program at a community teaching hospital and is active on social media engaging clinicians and the general public in dialogue about antimicrobial stewardship.
Julie HC Wu is a research coordinator in IPAC Research. Before coming to PHO, she worked for Ottawa Hospital Research Institute and the Cochrane Effective Practice and Organisation of Care (EPOC) Group with experience in conducting Cochrane Systematic Reviews.
